The Estate

Briar Hollow — a noble estate outside the village

Current Status (as of session 4): The campaign's opening hook, established in the setting premise in session 2. The party went to a mansion in session 4 — whether it is this estate is unrecorded.

Overview

A local noble estate, long abandoned and avoided by the village. Recently it has started showing signs of occupation:

• Lights seen in the upper windows.
• Doors that were sealed now standing ajar.
• Livestock gone missing.
• Villagers hearing voices where no one should be.

Whatever is in it has not been disturbed in years. The village is divided on whether anything is happening at all — some say it is nothing, others refuse to speak of it.

History

• Session 2 — given as the hook in the DM's premise for Briar Hollow. Not engaged.
• Session 4 — the old woman dies and the party goes to the mansion. Whether that mansion is this estate is unrecorded; the one-shot (session 1) also took place in a mansion.
