🧾 Session 6: The Pastries of Madness & The Windmill’s True Face
🌬️ The Old Windmill The party’s path carried them to the looming silhouette of the windmill. At its door, a kindly old woman greeted them — her hands dusted with flour, her smile sweet as the pastries she peddled. She offered warmth, hospitality, and dreams wrapped in dough.
Curious, Vess and Corvin followed her inside, sampling the pies and hearing promises of peace. She slipped away with a haste that went unnoticed — leaving only the scent of sugar and something darker.
🍄 Visions in the Fog of Pastry Vess tasted first. Bliss flooded through her — laughter, joy, flying fish in the air. Soon she was chasing a boy with a wooden sword (Corvin), while two tall trees watched over them (Logi and Myra).
Corvin, tempted by Vess’s joy, ate as well. But his dream was no dream — it was nightmare. He walked again through battlefields of his past, blood slick on the ground, the screams of dying foes in his ears. In his vision, his companions became monsters: Vess an ogre, Myra and Logi twisted into bugbears.
Steel was drawn. Blows were traded. They fought each other — friends locked in illusions, unable to see the truth.
When the haze lifted, confusion turned to shame. They bound wounds and set camp. Vess lingered under the spell of the pastries, lying back in the grass, listening to strange “mushroom music” only she could hear.
🏚️ A Village’s Bargain At dawn, they pressed onward to the nearby village. But the gates did not open for them. The guards’ eyes were hard, their spears crossed in refusal.
“You want entry? Then prove your worth. Slay the witch who lives in the windmill. Eight children are gone, stolen by her hand. Until her heart beats no more, you are not welcome here.”
⚰️ The Truth of the Windmill The party returned with dread in their hearts. What they found turned their stomachs: the mill was no bakery, but a slaughterhouse of innocence. The “flour” was bone-dust. The pastries were ground from children’s flesh and soul.
The party readied their blades. The session ended there.
