Taara

Zephyrian ranger, Fey Wanderer, played by juzt_ailey. Centuries old and still looking for whoever placed the Cold-Sigils on the Burning Tree.

She woke in Castle Ravenloft after the Olvenka day with every gift real in her pockets and no memory of the road that took her there. Myra has since told her, unprompted, that she banished Logi — she holds the fact and none of the memory.

Taara — Appearance

Taara is a Zephyrian: tall, poised, and winged. Her wings are her most striking feature — large feathered spans that shade from white at the shoulder through pale silver to ice-blue at the tips, threaded with fine gold chains and small ornaments woven between the feathers. Her skin is pale. Her hair is long, wavy chestnut with lighter gold at the crown, worn under a braided golden circlet; thin blue braided strands and hair-jewels hang at her temples. Her eyes are clear blue, her expression composed and a little removed.

She dresses in a floor-length gown of black sheer layers over a violet-blue underdress, worked throughout with gold filigree, chains, and hanging jewels — sheer full sleeves gathered at the cuff, a high ornamented collar, fine rings on her fingers. She carries an ornate recurve bow of pale gold and blue, strung and ready even at rest. Blue butterflies attend her constantly, drifting around her wings and settling on the balustrade nearest her; one of them is dark and wrong-looking — the vampire butterfly bonded to Logi's tooth. She feels its emotions.

The wedding portrait

The portrait shows the wedding in the great hall's colors: Taara as the bride, veiled, her white wings chained in gold, wearing a black-and-violet gown close to the one she wears now, holding a bouquet of blue roses. Beside her stands a young Strahd — human, dark-haired, in black regalia with a deep red cloak and fur collar, a jeweled clasp at his throat — holding her hand. Castle Ravenloft rises lit and whole in the background; blue roses and butterflies frame the scene. Candles burn on either side. Taara regained the memories this painting depicts — the happy half of them — in session 24.
